Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Resilience

At Help a Child Malawi, we work with communities to strengthen their resilience to climate change and reduce the risks and impacts of disasters. By promoting sustainable agriculture, protecting natural resources and supporting resilient livelihoods, we help families prepare for environmental challenges, adapt to changing conditions and build a more secure future.

Our approach puts communities and children at the centre. We believe that lasting resilience grows when people are empowered to identify their own risks, build on local knowledge and take collective action to protect their livelihoods, their environment and the well-being of future generations.

Help a Child Malawi integrates Climate resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into its Child-Centred Community Development approach. Rather than addressing environmental challenges in isolation, we work with communities to strengthen the systems on which children and families depend.

Healthy ecosystems are essential for resilient communities. Through tree planting, forest conservation and sustainable land management, we encourage communities to protect the natural resources on which they depend.
