Early Childhood Development

Help a Child DRC supports young children’s development by creating safe and inclusive environments where they can play, learn and receive psychosocial support.

196,203 children supported in disaster response programmes in 2025

We are dedicated to meeting the needs of vulnerable children in eastern DRC. Through our Child-Friendly Spaces, children affected by conflict and displacement can access opportunities for early learning, social interaction and emotional well-being. These spaces provide an important foundation for children’s development, particularly in humanitarian contexts.

Help a Child DRC also contributes to children’s well-being through education, community-based support and the early identification of nutritional concerns. By connecting child protection, early learning and basic care, we aim to create better conditions for young children to grow, learn and thrive. Where security conditions allow, Child-Friendly Spaces can gradually develop into community-based Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, offering more stable and inclusive environments for young children and their families.
