We focus on removing barriers to education by supporting the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, establishing Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, providing educational materials and strengthening the capacity of teachers and school management committees. Through our Education in Emergencies interventions, implemented in collaboration with partners such as UNICEF and the Dutch Relief Alliance, we help children access learning opportunities even in crisis-affected communities.
Education
Help a Child South Sudan works to improve access to safe, inclusive and quality education for children and young people, particularly those affected by conflict, displacement and poverty.
Equal opportunities
A key priority is ensuring that vulnerable children, including girls and young children, have equal opportunities to learn and develop. Help a Child South Sudan supports Early Childhood Education by establishing ECD centres that combine learning with child protection, parental engagement and nutrition-related activities, such as school gardening. We also work with teachers, parents and communities to encourage school enrolment, improve attendance and create supportive learning environments. Through initiatives such as What’s Up, Girls?!, we have addressed barriers to girls’ education by strengthening teachers’ skills, providing life-skills training and engaging communities to challenge harmful social and cultural practices.
By combining access to education with child-centred and community-based approaches, Help a Child South Sudan aims to help children build foundational skills, resilience and better prospects for the future.
